Interview with Ideamensch

Mr. Friant held an interview with Ideamensch to talk about his life and involvement with the Habanero shaker. The idea behind the Habanero shaker was born after a friend of his gave a Habanero. He also visited Jamaica and found a version of the habanero that he fell in love with. He then decided to do mass production of the same. He differentiated his product from other habaneros by not mixing them with salt or other cheap spices. He also said that he generates ideas by going for a bicycle ride and keeps up with any ideas that might pop up by writing them down; a habit he says makes him more productive since it clears his mind to think of more fresh ideas. He has managed to grow his business by learning from people who are already successful in what he plans to do.

The Habanero Shaker

According to Scoville heat scale, Habaneros have, on average, 200,000 Scoville heat units, about fifty times higher than other shakes. This heat level is due to the presence of Capsaicin molecule that is found in its placental ridges. Habanero’s are part of a Chinese pepper species and contain the highest capsaicin amounts. Capsaicin triggers the production of endorphins in the body. Endorphins are natural painkillers. They also have a calming and soothing sensation due to their similarity with opiate molecules.
